Community Rules

Community is a moderated local space inside the I’M SAFE app, separate from your private Bubbles. These rules apply to everything you post there, including conversations, replies, city guide tips and map observations.

Last updated: 1 September 2026

Community is not monitored for emergencies. Nothing posted in Community reaches police, ambulance or fire services. If you are in danger, contact your local emergency number.

1. Who can take part

Community is available at launch to eligible signed-in users who are currently inside Chennai or metropolitan Adelaide. You need to be signed in, and the app makes a separate one-shot location check in the foreground to confirm you are inside a supported area before granting access.

Community access is a short grant. If the grant lapses, the app checks again the next time you open Community. Those eligibility coordinates are not published as posts and are not added to your Bubble history.

2. Acceptable content

Post things that are useful to people in Chennai or metropolitan Adelaide and that you are willing to stand behind.

  • Keep contributions relevant to the local area you are in.
  • Describe what you observed rather than accusing named individuals.
  • Be accurate. Do not present rumour, speculation or forwarded messages as fact.
  • Respect other people's privacy. Do not post someone else's address, phone number, vehicle details, photograph or workplace.
  • Write in a way that a stranger reading it later can still make sense of.

3. What is not allowed

  • Harassment, threats, bullying or targeting an individual.
  • Hate speech or content that attacks people for who they are.
  • Sexual content, graphic violence or content involving minors.
  • Doxxing, surveillance of a named person, or content that helps someone locate a private individual.
  • Impersonating another person, an organisation or an emergency service.
  • Vigilante calls to action, or content encouraging people to confront or punish someone.
  • Spam, scams, advertising, referral links and repetitive promotional posts.
  • Illegal content or content encouraging illegal activity.
  • Deliberately false reports, including fake observations placed on the map.

4. Contributions are not verified

Community contributions are not emergency alerts, professional advice or verified facts, and they are not proof that a place is safe. Community is not monitored for emergencies.

Map observations use approximate, coarsened public areas rather than precise points, and they disappear from public view after seven days. The absence of an observation does not mean an area is safe, and the presence of one does not mean an area is dangerous. Use your own judgement.

5. How moderation works

Before a contribution is published, its text or title and the displayed name are sent to OpenAI for an automated publication decision. Account ID, city, coordinates, profile photo and Bubble information are not sent. We request that the provider does not store the content, and we cannot promise a provider retains nothing. If the check fails or the result is uncertain, the contribution stays unpublished.

We may also remove content, limit an account’s access to Community, or remove Community access entirely where these rules are broken. Serious or repeated breaches can result in the suspension or termination of the I’M SAFE account under our Terms & Conditions.

6. Reporting and blocking

Every contribution can be reported from inside the app. Reports are reviewed against these rules.

  • Report content you believe breaks these rules.
  • Block a contributor to stop seeing their contributions, and unblock them later if you change your mind.
  • Edit or delete your own contributions at any time.
  • Save items privately for yourself without republishing them.

7. Your displayed name

You can hide your displayed name from other people. That is not anonymity: I'M SAFE keeps authenticated authorship so we can moderate, enforce the rules and act on deletion requests, and details you type can still identify you.

8. Your content stays yours

You keep ownership of what you post. By posting in Community you give I’M SAFE permission to host, store, display, coarsen, moderate and remove that contribution so the feature can operate. Deleting a contribution removes it from public view; copies may persist in moderation, backup or enforcement records for as long as we need them for those purposes.

9. Appeals and support

If a contribution was removed or your access was limited and you think that was wrong, contact support and tell us what happened. We will look at the decision again.

Email support@imsafe.app or use the contact form on the website. We do not publish support hours or a response-time commitment, and support is not an emergency channel.

10. Changes to these rules

We may update these rules as Community grows or launches in new areas. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page shows when they last changed.
